Welcome to ATF’s Boston Field Division. Our division is responsible for ATF criminal enforcement and industry regulatory operations throughout the six New England states. Our dedicated work force is comprised of special agents, industry operations investigators, auditors, technicians, and support staff.

ATF is committed to reducing violent crime in our neighborhoods. We accomplish this by focusing our investigative efforts on armed violent offenders, career criminals, gun traffickers and gangs. We work with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and increase our effectiveness through these partnerships.

Explosives and arson enforcement is an integral part of ATF’s overall violent crime reduction strategy. The Boston Field Division is very proactive in this area. We conduct independent investigations and assist local and state fire and police investigators across New England. We also offer some of the finest training available on investigations pertaining to arson and bombings.

The Boston Field Division is home to the highest concentration of major firearms manufacturers in the nation. Because of this our industry operations investigators have a unique knowledge of the manufacturing process and the regulations that govern this industry. They work to ensure that all firearms and explosives are stored, handled, and sold in a safe manner according to the law.

Federal Jury Convicts Career Criminal On Firearms Charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Kareem Williams, 36, of Providence, faces a minimum mandatory fifteen years and up to life in federal prison after a U.S. District Court jury in Providence found him guilty Thursday of being a felon in possession of firearms and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. Williams, a career criminal, was previously convicted in state court of five felonies, including two for drug trafficking and one for robbery.More »

Stamford Man Admits Selling Machine Guns, Narcotics

Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that PATRICK UZAR, 25, of Stamford, pleaded guilty yesterday, January 26, before Senior United States District Judge Ellen Bree Burns in New Haven to one count of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine, and one count of possession and transfer of a machine gun.
