Circumstances of Death

Prohibition Agent Arthur Alvin Zimmerman was traveling in his Government vehicle from Chenango Forks to Binghamton, NY, to conduct an investigation regarding illicit liquor violations.  When he stopped along the roadway to check his vehicle, he was struck by a passing car and died at the scene.

Background

Agent Zimmerman joined the Bureau of Prohibition on June 25, 1928, and was assigned to offices in Albany and Buffalo, New York.
