Prohibition Agent Frank Matuskowitz traveled by train from Philadelphia to Scranton, PA. He was scheduled to meet and assist other agents who were attempting to apprehend a notorious bootlegger. As the train approached the town of Pittston, it was involved in an accident and Agent Matuskowitz was killed.
Agent Matuskowitz joined the Prohibition Unit on 2/11/1920, with an annual salary of $1,500. He was among the first groups of new agents assigned to enforce the National Prohibition Act.
