Hite Public Information Officer 415-744-7001 FY-98-11 Date: June 4, 1998 VIOLENT DRUG TRAFFICKING ORGANIZATION BROUGHT TO JUSTICE OAKLAND, CA - Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; the Drug Enforcement Administration; the Internal Revenue Service; and officers from the Oakland, CA, Police Department and Emeryville, CA, Police Department arrested 15 violent convicted felons for federal firearms and drug trafficking violations on June 3. Numerous search warrants were also executed, resulting in the seizure of firearms, drugs, cash and property. These arrests follow an exhaustive three-year investigation, including a six-month wiretap. This successful investigation is the direct result of the cooperation between the participating agencies, including the U.S. Attorney’s Office. ATF’s commitment of resources to this investigation, and the extraordinary efforts of ATF agents from Oakland and across the country contributed to bringing the criminal organization to its knees.
