RENO, Nev., – Investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Reno Fire Department announced today that ATF is posting a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the July 29, 2009 fire that destroyed 23 of 36 unoccupied buildings under various stages of construction at the Alexander Apartments complex.
More than 65 firefighters responded to the late evening fire at the complex located at 11380 South Virginia Street that resulted in an estimated loss of $30 million. Investigators from the Reno Fire Department and ATF are conducting a joint investigation of the fire and have ruled out accidental causes for the fire.
Investigators have canvassed and interviewed more than 100 individuals and are seeking the public’s help in solving this crime. Law enforcement officials are hopeful that the reward will provide additional leads to solve the case.
