ATF APPOINTS NEW ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR

MANAGEMENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

WASHINGTON -- Marguerite R. Moccia, a veteran of 25 years with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), including as Chief Information Officer for the last three years, became head of ATF's Office of Management and the Bureau’s Chief Financial Officer effective July 4.

Moccia, 52, who held the position of Deputy Chief Financial Officer for a number of years, will serve as the principal assistant to Director Carl J. Truscott in planning and executing all the management support programs of the Bureau, including financial management, personnel and position management, contracting and procurement, program measurement and improvement, administrative management and facilities management.

"Assistant
Director Moccia's knowledge and experience, coupled with her understanding
of the law enforcement mission and environment, make her a natural choice
for this position," Truscott said in a message to ATF employees.
"I look forward to working with her in her new role."

The
management slot will be the second ATF assistant directorship for Moccia,
who has served as assistant director for science and technology since
2001. As Chief Information Officer, she was responsible for ATF's third
seat management performance-based contract, the smooth transition of
information resources from the Treasury Department to the Department
of Justice, and the seamless opening of ATF's National Laboratory Center,
including the state of the art Fire Research Laboratory, the world's
first facility devoted to fire scene investigations.

Moccia, who began her federal career with the Department of Defense, is a native of Philadelphia and 1973 graduate of the Catholic University of America in Washington.
She is a member of the Senior Executive Service Association, serves on the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area Board and is a member of the Financial Executive Institute.
