Porcupine Man Pleads Guilty to Assault on a Federal Officer
U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Jesse Miller, age 22, of Porcupine, appeared before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on December 30, 2009, and pled guilty to an Information that charged him with Assault on a Federal Officer. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 20 years incarceration and a $250,000 fine. Miller discharged a rifle into a tribal police officer's home on or about November 19, 2009. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms & Explosives. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregg S. Peterman. A presentence investigation was ordered, and sentencing was scheduled for March 26, 2010. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
