Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 97 Months in Federal Prison

Russell Dwayne McNally, 51, of Boise, Idaho, was sentenced today to 97 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced. U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge also ordered five years of supervision following McNally’s release from prison. He was also ordered to forfeit three firearms, a shotgun, a .22 revolver and a .45 pistol. McNally pled guilty in September 2010.

In December 2009, the Drug Enforcement Administration begin its investigation into McNally’s trafficking in methamphetamine. On December 14, 2009, investigators intercepted his vehicle returning from out-of-state with a load of approximately one-half pound of methamphetamine. McNally was found to be in possession of several firearms, including a loaded .45 handgun found underneath the driver's seat. A search warrant was served at McNally's residence and an additional two and one-half pounds of methamphetamine was discovered.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Meridian Police Department.
