South Portland Man Sentenced on Federal Firearms Charge
Portland, Maine: United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced today that United States District Judge George Z. Singal, sitting in Portland, sentenced Roy Bernie
Clark, age 45, of South Portland, Maine to 41 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for illegal possession of firearms while being subject to a protection from abuse order. Clark pleaded guilty to the charge in October 2010.
According to court records, on February 15, 2010, officers from the South Portland Police Department responded to a domestic violence call at Clark’s home in South Portland, Maine and seized nineteen firearms and numerous rounds of ammunition. In imposing the sentence, Judge Singal stated that he took into account the danger created by the presence of firearms in homes where domestic violence is prevalent, as was alleged in this case.
United States Attorney Delahanty said that the investigation leading to the conviction was the result of cooperation between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the South Portland Police Department.
