Jackson, Tennessee Man Sentenced to 240 Months in Federal Prison
Jackson, Tenn.— Edward L. Stanton, III, United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, announced that United States District Judge J. Daniel Breen sentenced Paris Rayon Ballew, 22, of Jackson, Tennessee, to 240 months in federal prison after being found guilty by a jury on gun and drug charges.
The defendant was sentenced to 180 months confinement for being an armed career criminal and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and a consecutive 60 month sentence for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Judge Breen also ordered Ballew to serve 3 years supervised release and to pay a $300.00 special assessment. The sentence imposed is consecutive to an eight year state parole violation sentence Ballew must serve. Because of his prior convictions, Ballew was found by the Court to be subject to an enhanced sentence under federal statutes.
This investigation was conducted by the Jackson Police Department’s Gang Enforcement Team, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney James W. Powell represented the government.
