Special Agent John Capano

ATF New York field division Special Agent John Capano was killed Saturday, December 31, 2011, during a hostile action in Nassau County, N.Y., in which he attempted to stop an armed robbery at a pharmacy. Though he was off duty at the time, his call to protect the public spurred him to immediate action. He is a hero.

Special Agent Capano was a 23-year veteran agent with ATF, who will be mourned by his wife, son and daughter and thousands of friends and colleagues. Our thoughts and prayers are with them now. His tragic death is another reminder that our brave agents, like all law enforcement officers, are always on the job, ready to respond to violent criminal acts.
