SOUTH BEND MAN SENTENCED TO OVER 10 YEARS FOR FIREARM AND DRUG TRAFFICKING OFFENSES

Thurston LQ Jackson, 32, of South Bend, Indiana, was sentenced by Judge Jon DeGuilio to 124 months imprisonment and 3 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the felony offenses of distribution of crack cocaine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, sale of a firearm to a convicted felon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In his plea agreement Jackson admitted that he sold and distributed 2.6 grams of crack cocaine, as well as a Hi-Point, pistol on January 6, 2012 for approximately $500 to a person that had previously been convicted of a felony crime. He also sold and distributed 2.9 grams of crack cocaine to the same person on February 6, 2012 for approximately $240. Also in February 2012 he possessed an additional firearm. Jackson was previously convicted of a felony crime, specifically, in 2009 possession of controlled substance in Cook County, Illinois.

This case was the result of an investigation the by the ATF and the South Bend Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald Schmid.
