Rapid City Man Guilty of Illegally Possessing .380 Firearm Ammunition Michael Croyle

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Michael Croyle, age 32, of Rapid City, appeared before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on October 29, 2012, and pled guilty to an indictment that charged him with Felon in Possession of Ammunition. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years' imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine.

In March 2012, Croyle, a previously convicted felon, was illegally in possession of Speer .380 firearm ammunition. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, the Rapid City Police Department, and the Pennington County Sheriff‘s Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for March 1, 2013. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
