ATF Offers Reward For Information On Assault Of Federal Firearms Licensee And Firearms Theft
FLINT, MICHIGAN – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the assault of a Gladwin County Federal Firearms Licensee and or recovery of firearms stolen from Guns and Stuff, a federal firearms licensee located in Sage Township, Mich. on Monday. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) will also match any reward paid by ATF for a potential overall award of up to $10,000.
Sheriff Michael Shea, Gladwin County Sheriff Department said, “This crime is especially heinous since the owner of the gun store was savagely attacked and is in critical condition. The Gladwin County Sheriff’s Department is asking that if anyone has information that would lead to identifying those responsible to come forward. This is a crime we take very seriously and will pursue those responsible.”
“The theft of firearms from licensed gun dealers is a top priority for ATF,” said Gilbert Salinas, Acting Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the ATF Detroit Field Division. “Most importantly we need to identify the individual/s that would violently attack and rob a federal firearms licensee. Our experience shows us that these guns quickly become used in violent crimes. We also know that tips from the public have resulted in the recovery of stolen firearms.”
ATF and the Gladwin County Sheriff Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals responsible. Anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to call the Gladwin County Sheriff Department Detective Bureau at 989-426-9284 or the ATF Flint Field office at 810-341-5710. Callers may also call ATF at 1-800-ATF-GUNS (1-800-283-4867) or text their tip to 274637 (CRIMES) with “ATF” in the body of the text.
