Three Arrested in FFL Assault and Theft

FLINT, MICHIGAN – Three primary suspects were arrested in the investigation surrounding the assault and burglary of a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL), Guns and Stuff, in Gladwin, Mich.  The arrests were made by detectives from the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Department (GCSD), ATF Special Agents, Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department (TCSD) deputies and investigators from the Michigan State Police (MSP).  Search warrants were also served on Wednesday resulting in the recovery of three of the handguns. A wallet and identification belonging to the FFL were recovered from a residence associated to one of the suspect. An additional suspect was questioned by GCSD detectives and ATF agents pertaining to his role and was arrested on Wednesday evening.

“Even though there are three individuals in custody, it is still important to continue efforts to retrieve the missing handguns, as one of these could easily be used in a violent crime against a member of the public or even law enforcement,” said Gilbert Salinas, Acting Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Detroit Field Division. “We are encouraging members of the public to come forward with information, if they know about the whereabouts of these stolen handguns.”

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is still offering a reward for information pertaining to this case, particularly in the recovery of the six stolen handguns. The National Shooting Sports Foundation will match any reward paid by ATF.

Sheriff Michael Shea, GCSD said, “By possessing these stolen handguns, an individual is in both violation of various state and federal laws. It is important to get these handguns back. We will continue to pursue leads on these stolen handguns with our law enforcement partners.”

ATF and the Gladwin County Sheriff Department are seeking the public’s assistance in providing additional information pertaining to this crime and the whereabouts of the remaining stolen handguns.
