Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives

INDIANAPOLIS – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade association for the firearms industry – have announced a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder of Scott Maxie and the theft of firearms from Muscatatuck Outdoors, a federal firearms licensee in North Vernon, Ind.

ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000, which will be matched by the NSSF for a total possible reward of $10,000.

On Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, Scott Maxie was found deceased in his shop after an apparent robbery.  Numerous firearms, both handguns and long guns, are believed to have been stolen at the time of the robbery.  ATF, the Indiana State Police, and the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.

Anyone having information about the murder and robbery should contact ATF at 1-800-ATF-GUNS (800-283-4867).  All calls will be kept confidential.

This reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed retailers.  ATF works closely with the members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms.
