ATF, Firearms Industry Offer Reward in Dayton Area Firearms Thefts
DAYTON – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade association for the firearms industry – have announced a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft of firearms from Vandalia Range and Armory, Palmer Firearms, and The Miami Armory. All three businesses are federal firearms licensees located in the Dayton, Ohio area.
ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000, which will be matched by the NSSF for a total possible reward of $10,000.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, several individuals broke into the Vandalia Range and Armory, located on Corporate Center Drive, in Vandalia, Ohio and stole 42 handguns. On Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, again in the early morning hours, investigators believe that some of the same individuals broke into Palmer Firearms, located on Grange Hall Road, in Beavercreek, Ohio and stole two semi-automatic rifles. Then in the early morning hours of Aug. 8, 2015, investigators believe that an individual associated with the previous break-ins burglarized The Miami Armory, located on Kingsridge Drive, in Dayton, Ohio and stole 33 handguns. All three incidents were recorded on video. ATF is working with the Vandalia Police Department and the Miami Township Police Department to investigate these incidents.

This reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed retailers. ATF works closely with the members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms.
