Casey Xiong works as a supervisory special agent at ATF’s Seattle Field Division, and he manages special agents and task force officers (TFOs) working on violent crimes. He began his law enforcement career as the first and only Hmong special agent with ATF when it was originally part of the U.S. Department of the Treasury in 1994.
Agent Xiong feels it’s important during Asian American Pacific Islander Month to recognize that the democracy and freedoms we enjoy today were the result of sacrifices made by Chinese, Hmong, Laotian, Vietnamese, and Cambodian immigrants from Southeast Asia. Some of these achievements include the building of the transcontinental railroad, defending our freedoms by serving in the law enforcement, military, and technological advances.
Xiong enjoys giving back and often serves as a mentor to law enforcement personnel. He believes that everyone can make a difference by having a positive attitude and hard working. This includes working with people from diverse backgrounds to gain a broader perspective on agency goals and then develop strategies to achieve them.
Agent Xiong encourages all his agents and TFOs to be part of the team by finding innovative ways to contribute their best to the success of the overall mission. His career in law enforcement was inspired by his father who encouraged him to do something that makes a difference in this county.
