$20,000 Reward Offered for Information on Retail Gun Theft


CORNELIA, Ga. ? The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Atlanta Field Division and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) ? the trade association for the firearms industry ? today announced a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft of firearms from Gene's Pawn Shop, a federal firearms licensee located in Cornelia, in Habersham County.

Seven Indicted And Arrested In Dogfight Gambling Enterprise


U.S. Attorney Michael J. Moore announced today that Arthur Lee Clark, age 41, of Sumner, Georgia; Demitri Jackson, age 37; Tedrick Jackson, age 38; William Burns, age 41;  Otha Hopkins, age 47, all of Albany, Georgia; Timothy Hopkins, age 41, of Hiram, Georgia; and Michael Bass, age 40, of Ashburn, Georgia were indicted for one count of conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture and three counts of sponsoring and exhibiting a dog in an animal fighting venture.

Man Sentenced for Cedartown Carjacking


ROME, Ga. - Rodney Scott Blankenship has been sentenced to 17 years, and four months in prison for carjacking a Cedartown woman at gun point on August 31, 2012.

“This Defendant showed no regard for who he might have injured or killed during his crime spree,” said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.  “The violent carjacking and police chase started in northwest Georgia, and the significant sentence appropriately reflects the serious danger he caused to both citizens and police.”

Gun Dealer Indicted For Sale of Firearms to a Felon


AUGUSTA, GA – An indictment was returned yesterday by a federal Grand Jury sitting in Savannah, Georgia against William Arnold Debow, 53, a federally licensed firearms dealer who was doing business as The Ponderosa Trading Company. Debow was charged with 28 counts of knowingly transferring a firearm to a convicted felon and with 10 counts of illegally transferring a handgun to out of state residents.

Stillwell Sentenced For Gun Charges


Michael J. Moore, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, announced that James L. Stillwell, aged 45, from Cordele, Georgia, was sentenced on Thursday, February 27, 2014, to serve nine years (108 months) in prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon by the Honorable W. Louis Sands, United States District Court Judge, in Albany, Georgia.

Jury Convicts Former Air Force Firearms Instructor of Embezzling Government Funds & Unlicensed Dealing in Firearms


Brunswick, GA – Timothy John Arnold, 43, of Allenstown, New Hampshire (formerly of Brunswick, Georgia) was found guilty earlier this week by a federal jury in Brunswick, Georgia on nine charges relating to the embezzlement and conversion of federal funds, the unauthorized disposition of federal property, and unlicensed manufacturing and dealing in firearms. AirTran Employee Sentenced for Bypassing TSA Security with a Machine Gun


ATLANTA - Rasondo Maurice Norris, who attempted to smuggle cocaine and a Mac-11 machine gun onto a commercial flight has been sentenced to ten years in prison.

“Security screening at our airports is vital to keeping citizens safe,” said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.  “By using his credentials to bypass security with backpacks of contraband, the defendant tried to allow drugs and a machine gun onboard a commercial flight.  Public safety is a responsibility we take seriously, and our office will continue to prosecute those who are endangering our citizens.”

Rapper Gucci Mane Arraigned on Federal Gun Charges


ATLANTA – Radric Davis, an Atlanta-based rap artist who performs under the name Gucci Mane, has been charged in federal court with two separate counts of possessing a firearm while being a felon.

“The indictment charges that on two separate occasions, this defendant, a convicted felon, threatened individuals, including the police and his attorney with a gun” said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.  “This is how people get hurt, and we are committed to ensuring that convicted felons not have guns.”
