Marrero Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment after Conviction for Arson Resulting in Death

NEW ORLEANS – U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced that CYRUS CASBY, age 29, from Marrero, Louisiana, was sentenced today following his conviction at trial for arson resulting in death and injury.

U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon sentenced CASBY to life imprisonment.

Federal Jury Convicts Allen Gang

NEW ORLEANS – U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced that GIE PRESTON, age 39, BURNELL ALLEN, age 35, and SONNY ALLEN, age 31, all residents of New Orleans, Louisiana, were convicted late yesterday after a 4-day jury trial. The jury returned a verdict of guilty on a superseding indictment charging all defendants with conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base “crack.” The jury also found SONNY ALLEN guilty of distributing a quantity of cocaine base “crack” on four occasions.

ATF Offers $1,000 Reward for Information on Indoor Shooting Range Burglary

HARAHAN, La. ? The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the persons responsible for the burglary and theft of firearms from the Shooter's Club Indoor Range.

On July 27, two unknown individuals burglarized the Shooter's Club, 2338 Hickory Ave., in Harahan, and stole six firearms from the business.

This burglary and firearms theft is being investigated by ATF and the Harahan Police Department.

Shreveport Men Sentenced For Robbing Businesses in Louisiana and Texas at Gunpoint

SHREVEPORT, La. – United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced today that Myles W. Robinson, 21, and Halston M. Smith, 22, both of Shreveport, were sentenced to 314 years in prison and 138 years in prison, respectively, by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote for their participation in a string of armed robberies in Louisiana and Texas. The defendants were also ordered to pay $17,681.31 and $8,033.31 in restitution, respectively.

BATON ROUGE, LA – United States Attorney Walt Green announced that CHRISTOPHER L. BROWN, age 35, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Shelly D. Dick to 270 months imprisonment and 5 years of supervised release following imprisonment for his role in a home invasion conspiracy aimed at stealing 12 kilograms of cocaine and killing anyone that stood in the way.

K-9 Madison is an Explosives Detection Canine (EDC). Her job is to help ATF agents and law enforcement officers locate explosives and firearms. Madison lives near New Orleans with her handler and family, but has traveled and worked nationwide. Madison started her career with the Guiding Eyes for The Blind, but soon found she was best suited as a detector canine.

Tioga Man Convicted of Being a Felon in Possession of Explosives

ALEXANDRIA, La. – United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced today that a federal jury found Calvin James Doherty, 43, of Tioga, La., guilty on Wednesday of being a felon in possession of explosive material and improper storage of explosive material. United States District Judge Dee D. Drell presided over the two-day trial.

Shreveport Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm

SHREVEPORT, La. – United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced today that Darrell Rogers Johns, 32, of Shreveport, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Donald E. Walter, to 10 years in prison and three years of supervised release for one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon. Judge Walter also ordered that the firearm and ammunition involved be forfeited. Johns was found guilty on October 9, 2013, after a two-day bench trial.
