Chippewa Falls Man Sentenced for Gun Crime

MADISON, WIS. -- John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Corey Cichy, 23, Chippewa Falls, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge William Conley to 18 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Cichy pleaded guilty to this charge on December 11, 2013.

Cichy was arrested after he attempted to sell a rifle and ammunition to an undercover police officer at a shooting range in Cadott, Wis.

Sioux Falls Man Sentenced in Firearms Case

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Sioux Falls, South Dakota, man convicted of Possession of a Stolen Firearm was sentenced on January 27, 2014, by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier.

Andrei Kevin Russell, age 29, was sentenced to 92 months in prison, to be followed by 3 years of supervised release.

Russell was indicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm and for possessing a stolen firearm by a federal grand jury on March 6, 2013. He pled guilty to the stolen firearm offense on November 1, 2013. The other charge was dismissed.

MADISON, WIS. -- A federal grand jury in the Western District of Wisconsin, sitting in Madison, returned the following indictments today. You are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Rapid City Man Sentenced for Possession of a Stolen Firearm

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rapid City, South Dakota, man convicted of Possession of a Stolen Firearm was sentenced on January 9, 2014, by Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken, U.S. District Court.

Sheldon LaPointe, age 38, was sentenced to 48 months in custody, 3 years of supervised release, ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

North Dakota Man Sentenced for Possession of Firearm by a Prohibited Person

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a North Dakota man convicted of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person was sentenced on December 30, 2013, by U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. Virgil Running Bear, Jr., age 40, was sentenced to 57 months of imprisonment, 3 years of Supervised Release, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Running Bear was indicted by a federal grand jury on May 15, 2013.

He pled guilty on September 23, 2013.

Bismarck Man Sentenced for Felon in Possession Charge

BISMARCK– U.S. Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on Dec. 19, 2013, Dylan A. Romero, 34, Bismarck, N.D., was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland on a charge of possession of firearm by a convicted felon. Romero was found guilty by a federal jury on Sept. 6, 2013.

Judge Hovland sentenced Romero to seven years in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Romero was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim’s Fund.

Madison Man Sentenced to 30 Months for Illegal Possession of a Firearm

MADISON, WIS. -- John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Rashon Howard, 27, Madison, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman to 30 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release, for unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Howard pleaded guilty to this charge on October 3, 2013.

Stoughton Man Sentenced to 30 Months for Illegally Receiving Firearms

MADISON, WIS. -- John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Weston Hoare-Baltes, 20, Stoughton, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Lyn Adelman to 30 months in prison, followed by three-years of supervised release, for unlawfully receiving firearms while under felony information. Hoare-Baltes pleaded guilty to this charge on October 3, 2013.

WAUSAU Woman Sentenced for Distributing Methamphetamine

MADISON, WIS. -- John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Sandra J. Timm, 44, Wausau, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Lynn S. Adelman to 22 months in federal prison for distribution of methamphetamine. Timm pleaded guilty to this charge on October 3, 2013.

During the investigation a confidential informant made two buys of methamphetamine from Timm at her residence in Wausau. On March 21, 2013, law enforcement agents executed a search warrant at Timm’s residence and recovered 25 grams of methamphetamine.

Mandan Man Sentenced for Felon in Possession Charges

BISMARCK– U.S. Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on Nov. 25, 2013, James A. Siegrist, a/k/a James A. Robinson, 33, Mandan, N.D., was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Daniel L. Hovland on a charge of possession of firearm by a convicted felon and a charge of possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon. Siegrist was convicted of the charges by a federal jury on Aug. 28, 2013.

Murdo Man Sentenced For Possession of a Firearm By a Prohibited Person

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Murdo, South Dakota, man convicted of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person was sentenced on November 7, 2013, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange.

Shaun Sporrer, age 42, was sentenced to 30 months of imprisonment, 18 months of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Sporrer was indicted for the above charge by a federal grand jury on April 2, 2013. He pled guilty on August 13, 2013.
