Prohibited Persons Policy for ATF Applicants

An applicant for ATF employment will not be hired if he or she is considered a prohibited person. A prohibited person is an individual who, under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) or (n), is prohibited from shipping or transporting in interstate or foreign commerce, or possessing in or affecting commerce, any firearm or ammunition; or from receiving any firearm or ammunition which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce without regard to the exception at 18 U.S.C. § 925 (a)(1); and/or a person who, under 18 U.S.C. § 842(i), is prohibited from shipping or transporting any explosive in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce or from receiving or possessing any explosive which has been shipped or transported in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce.
