As the Special Agent in Charge of the Charlotte Field Division, I want to welcome you to the Division web site of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). We in the Charlotte Field Division are responsible for the ATF jurisdiction in both great states of North and South Carolina. Our web site can be a useful tool for anyone needing information about us and has been designed to provide the latest public information and activity regarding our programs and projects. This site is just another means in which we demonstrate our dedication to actively engaging our customers by effectively communicating useful information as we strive to protect the public and address the issue of violent crime.
Here in the Carolinas, we pride ourselves in our joint enforcement efforts with other federal, state and local law enforcement and fire service professionals. We also strive to engage ourselves with our regulated businesses, including the firearms and explosives industries, to address potential public safety issues. We continue to believe that anything positive can be accomplished if we combine and focus our efforts on a single goal, and that overall goal is to provide safe and secure communities for our good citizens to live and thrive in.
The site has contact information for each of our outlying field offices and area offices, to include the contact information for key personnel for the Division office in Charlotte. I encourage you to get involved in your communities and contact the respective office in your area with any concerns that may be related to ATF and our mission. Thank you.

Wayne L. Dixie, Jr.
Special Agent in Charge
Charlotte Field Division
Wayne Dixie was selected as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Charlotte Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in April 2012. He is responsible for ATF operations throughout the States of North and South Carolina.
ATF is a key law enforcement agency within the U. S. Department of Justice that protects our communities from violent criminals, criminal organizations, the illegal use and storage of explosives, trafficking of firearms, acts of arson and bombings, acts of terrorism, and the illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products. The men and women of ATF perform the dual responsibilities of enforcing Federal criminal laws and regulating the firearms and explosives industries to protect against crime, violence, and other threats to public safety.
In October 2008, SAC Dixie was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Columbus Field Division where he was responsible for field operations for the Ohio field offices and the Division Intelligence Unit. Prior to that, he served as the Group Supervisor of the Columbus Field Office and the Resident Agent in Charge of the Albuquerque Field Office, overseeing field agents and task force officers conducting complex investigations. Prior to this, SAC Dixie was assigned to the Intelligence Division, and later, to ATF’s Training Division in ATF National Headquarters. He was also a member of ATF’s Special Response Team; a team of agents trained in tactics and the execution of high risk search warrants.
In 1992, SAC Dixie accepted a position as a special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in Cincinnati, Ohio. He began his law enforcement career with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identifications and Investigations.
