Arcadia Man Sentenced for Possessing Firearms While Being Unlawfully in the United States

Madison, Wis. - John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Ramon Guzman-Torres, a/k/a Felix Manuel Velazquez Jr., 36, Arcadia, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge James Peterson to one year and one day in federal prison for knowingly possessing firearms while being unlawfully present in the United States.  Ramon Guzman-Torres pleaded guilty to this charge on September 13, 2016.
 
Guzman-Torres was arrested on February 21, 2016 after a police officer observed him sitting in a parked vehicle in a school parking lot at approximately 2:16 a.m.  He admitted to possessing five firearms and ammunition:  three pistols, one rifle, one semiautomatic rifle, and ammunition.  In the vehicle, officers also located a Wisconsin Driver’s License with the name of Felix Manuel Velazquez Jr., Guzman-Torres’ alias, which he used to purchase at least three of the firearms.
 
The charge against Ramon Guzman-Torres was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Arcadia Police Department, and the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office.  The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Diane Schlipper.
