ATF and Firearms Industry Offer $10,000 Reward in Gaston County Gun Thefts

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry, today announced a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the burglary of R & M Motors, Pawn and Trade, a federal firearm licensee (FFL) in Gaston County, N.C. ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000 which will be matched by the NSSF for a total reward of up to $10,000.

On Sunday, February 12, 2017, at approximately 2:08 a.m., the Gaston County (NC) Police Department responded to a burglar alarm at R & M Motors, Pawn and Trade (FFL) located at 7300 Dallas Cherryville Hwy. in Cherryville, N.C. Responding officers determined that multiple firearms had been stolen from the business. The investigation is continuing.

ATF, along with our law enforcement partners, is committed to ensuring that our communities are safe and that those who commit violent crimes such as this are held accountable. The reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers. ATF works closely with members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms.
