ATF Announces $5,000 Reward for Information in Murder Investigation of Baltimore Man

BALTIMORE, Md. – Today the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Baltimore Field Division announced a reward of $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case of 53-year-old Richard “Ricky” Jones, a Baltimore man who was shot and killed last year. ATF Special Agents and Baltimore Police Department (BPD) homicide Detectives are working together on this investigation.

On July 26, 2020, between approximately 8:20 p.m.-8:30 p.m. a shooting occurred in the 2900 block of Springhill Ave. in Baltimore. BPD officers responded and discovered the victim, later identified as Richard Jones, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officers received a statement from an unidentified individual that a silver vehicle pulled up next to the victim, the passenger exited the vehicle, and shot the victim.

“Someone in this city knows what happened to Ricky or even who his killer is,” said ATF Baltimore Acting Special Agent in Charge L.C. Cheeks, Jr. “ATF is working closely with our partners in the Baltimore Police Department to identify who committed this crime, but cooperation from the community is also a crucial part of what helps investigations succeed. We are asking that anyone with information please come forward so we can give Ricky justice and his loved ones the answers they deserve.”

“The Baltimore Police Department and all of our law enforcement partners are committed to identifying and holding those responsible for the violent crime in our city,” said Commissioner Michael Harrison. “I want to thank the ATF for announcing this reward money in hopes that in collaboration with our community, that we can hold accountable the person(s) responsible for the senseless killing of Ricky Jones.”

If anyone has information relevant to this investigation, they can call ATF at 888-ATF-TIPS (888-283-8477) or email ATFtips@atf.gov.
