ATF Offers Reward of Up To $5,000 in Lumberton Arson Investigation

Seeking public’s help in arson of police vehicles

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), is announcing a reward up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the arson of two police department vehicles in Lumberton, N.C.

On Mar. 02, 2016, a Lumberton Police Department (LPD) officer on routine patrol discovered two unmarked vehicles on fire in a LPD parking lot.  Both vehicles were owned by the city and used by the police department.  The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and ATF examined the vehicles for evidence, and the investigation disclosed the fire was incendiary.  This crime is being investigated by ATF, SBI and the Lumberton Police Department.
