ATF Offers Reward for Information on Theft of Local Gun Dealer

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Detroit Field Division is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the burglary of federal firearms licensee (FFL) Investment Rarities, Inc., located at 2390 E. Stadium Blvd., Ann Arbor, who was burglarized in the early evening hours on Dec. 5.  Among the items stolen were 21 handguns and three long guns.  The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) will also match any reward paid by ATF for a potential overall award of up to $5,000.

“The theft of firearms from licensed gun dealers is a top priority for ATF,” said Daryl McCrary, acting special agent in charge (SAC) of the ATF Detroit Field Division. “This is a crime that impacts public safety and something that ATF takes very seriously.  We need to identify the individual or individuals that committed this robbery, because our experience shows us that these guns quickly become used in violent crimes,” emphasized McCrary.  “We also know that tips from the public have resulted in the recovery of stolen firearms.”

ATF and the Ann Arbor Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals responsible.  Anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to call the ATF Ann Arbor Field Office at 734-887-0060 (or 1-800-ATF-GUNS) or the Ann Arbor, Mich., police department detective bureau at 734-794-6930, or (Ann Arbor Tip Line 734-794-6939) or Ann Arbor Detective Theil at 734-794-6930 ext. 4-9302.

ATF is the federal law enforcement agency with jurisdiction for investing firearms crimes.  More information about ATF and its programs can be found at www.atf.gov.
