Beloit Man Sentenced to 36 Months for Illegally Possessing a Firearm

MADISON, WIS. -- John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Kenneth Greene, 25, Beloit, Wis. was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to 36 months in federal prison, to be followed by a three-year period of supervised release, for being a felon in possession of a firearm.  Greene pleaded guilty to this charge on November 3, 2015.

Greene was charged with distributing crack cocaine on four occasions in December 2014, and possessing three different firearms from December 2014 to January 2015.  Greene pleaded guilty to possessing one of the firearms – an AK-47 style weapon that he sold to an undercover officer on December 18, 2015.

The charges against Greene were the result of an investigation conducted by G‑ROC, a task force formed through the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Violent Crime Initiative, to address gang and drug-related violence in Rock County through the coordination of investigations among local and federal law enforcement agencies.  Its members include the FBI; Rock County Sheriff’s Office; Rock County District Attorney’s Office; Beloit Police Department; and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter M. Jarosz.
