Joint Reward Offered for Information Regarding a Shipyard Arson

Moss Point, Miss. —The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) New Orleans Field Division and the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office have announced a combined reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the arson at VT Halter Marine, 5801 Elder Ferry Road, Moss Point, MS 39563.

On September 11, 2018, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Moss Point Fire Department responded to fire at VT Halter Marine, 5801 Elder Ferry Road, Moss Point, MS 39563. Upon arrival, two large structures were burning. Firefighters extinguished the fire, which caused approximately $2.5 million in damage.

On September 12, 2018, members from the Moss Point (MS) Police Department, Jackson County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office and Special Agents from the ATF New Orleans Field Division, Gulfport Field Office responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation, which was determined to be an arson. ATF and the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office are working jointly to identify the individual(s) responsible, and are hopeful the public can assist in solving this crime.
