Lewiston Man Sentenced to Two Years on Firearms Charge
Portland, Maine: United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that Andrew Silva, 30, of Lewiston, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court by Judge Nancy Torresen to 2 years in prison and 3 years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Silva pleaded guilty on May 21, 2014.
According to court records, on September 12, 2012, officers from the Lewiston Police Department responded to a reported domestic incident. When Silva was arrested in connection with the incident, a round of .22 caliber ammunition was found in his pocket. Officers then obtained a search warrant and found a loaded .22 caliber pistol in the living room closet of the apartment in which Silva was arrested. Silva was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition because of a prior felony conviction for aggravated assault.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Lewiston Police Department.
