Madison Man Sentenced for Distributing Crack Cocaine
MADISON, WIS. -- Jeffrey M. Anderson, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Jon Paul Dotson, 29, of Madison was sentenced on Friday, October 13, by U.S. District Judge James Peterson to seven months in federal prison for distributing crack cocaine in Madison on November 16, 2016. This prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release. Dotson pleaded guilty to this charge on August 4, 2017.
In sentencing Dotson, Judge Peterson took into account his lack of significant prior criminal convictions coupled with his need for rehabilitative mental health and vocational services.
The charge against Dotson was the result of an investigation conducted by the Dane County Narcotics Task Force, Madison Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. Anderson.
