Plainfield Man Sentenced To 30 Months For Illegally Possessing Firearms

MADISON, WIS. -- John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Aaron Schulist, 28, Plainfield, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to 30 months in federal prison, followed by a three-year term of supervised release, for unlawfully possessing three firearms as a convicted felon. Schulist pleaded guilty to this charge on January 30, 2014.

On August 12, 2013, Schulist pawned a shotgun and two rifles at Pawn America in Madison, Wis. Schulist is prohibited from possessing firearms because he has felony convictions for forgery, bail jumping, and entry into a locked building.

The charge against Schulist was the result of an investigation conducted by the Madison Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rita M. Rumbelow.
