Rangeley Man Sentenced to Almost Four Years on Firearms Charge

Bangor, Maine: United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that Frank J. McConnell, III, a/k/a “Frank Thompson,” 23, of Rangeley, Maine, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Bangor to almost four years (46 months) of imprisonment, three years of supervised release and a $500 fine for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The defendant pleaded guilty on November 13, 2013.

Court records reveal that on July 13, 2013, law enforcement officers responded to a complaint that an intoxicated man was at a home in Dallas Plantation shooting a gun. When the officers arrived, the defendant was standing outside the home firing a handgun toward the woods. The defendant was intoxicated and prohibited from possessing firearms because of prior felony convictions for domestic violence assault and a bail violation.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Rangeley Police Department, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine State Police, and the U.S. Border Patrol.
