ATF Renews Its Partnership with the
Boys & Girls Clubs of America

Washington, D.C. – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced the renewal of its partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) pledging continued work for the betterment of American families. ATF Director Carl J. Truscott made the announcement during BGCA’s Youth of the Year Congressional Breakfast September 22.

In announcing the partnership, Truscott said, “The agreement is a renewal of ATF’s historic partnership with BGCA. This partnership will help ATF reach more participants, giving them strategies to resist gang influences and build productive lives. We will combine the wisdom of our two organizations and use it to benefit children at a crossroads.”

The partnership will expand the efforts of ATF and BGCA to reduce youth violence, drug use and juvenile crime while providing every possible protection to young people so they can remain safe from those seeking to harm them, according to the partnership agreement.

“The entire Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is to be commended for their commitment to America's youth,” said Robbie Callaway, senior vice president of government relations, BGCA. “Director Truscott has been a long-time advocate of our Clubs and our kids, and we are delighted to renew this wonderful relationship.”

ATF has been involved in programs designed to provide students with the skills they need to avoid gang pressure and youth violence, and to develop beliefs and activities that will help them avoid destructive behaviors.

Partnerships with organizations such as BGCA encourage positive relationships between community, parents, schools and law enforcement officers.

“ATF joins other premier law enforcement agencies working with Boys and Girls Clubs to make America a better place for all Americans. ATF is proud and honored to undertake this worthwhile partnership,” Truscott added.
