Rosebud Man Sentenced for Arson

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud, South Dakota, man charged with Arson was sentenced on September 27, 2010, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. James Louis Staub, age 33, was sentenced to 41 months of imprisonment, five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund. He was also ordered to pay $24,063.69 in restitution. Staub was indicted for Arson by a federal grand jury on January 12, 2010. The charge relates to Staub setting fire to an apartment in the Low Rent Apartment building in Rosebud, South Dakota, on August 24, 2009. He pled guilty to the charge on June 23, 2010. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and Rosebud Law Enforcement Services. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher prosecuted the case. Staub was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal.
