Mission Man Sentenced for being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mission, South Dakota, man charged with Felon in Possession of Firearm was sentenced on October 25, 2010, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Henry Peter Shields Him, Jr., a/k/a Hank Shields Him, age 59, was sentenced to 33 months of imprisonment, two years of supervised release, a $100 special assessment, and ordered to forfeit the firearm. Shields Him was indicted for Felon in Possession of Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Firearm Unidentified by Serial Number by a federal grand jury on April 13, 2010. The charges related to Shields Him, after having been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year, knowingly possessing a Remington, model 41 Targetmaster, .22 caliber short-barreled weapon bearing no serial number, which had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce and foreign commerce, in November of 2009 in Todd County. Shields Him pled guilty to Felon in Possession of Firearm on July 26, 2010. This case was investigated by the Rosebud Law Enforcement Services and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher prosecuted the case. Shields Him was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal to begin his sentence.
