CHICAGO MAN SENTENCED FOR CRACK POSSESSION AND DISTRIBUTION

CHICAGO – Gary Shapiro, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Larry Ford, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced that Brian Thompson, 44, of Chicago, was sentenced yesterday to 72 months in prison, four years of supervised release, and a $5,500 fine by Federal Judge Ruben Castillo on one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute over 124 grams of crack cocaine.

Court proceedings revealed that between February 2008 and February 2011, Thompson sold various quantities of crack cocaine to undercover agents and confidential sources.

Thompson was indicted by a federal grand jury Feb. 29, 2012 and subsequently pled guilty July 27, 2012.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson.

The defendant is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
