Local Man Sentenced to 15 Years Imprisonment

Fort Wayne, Indiana — The United States Attorney’s Office announced the following activity:

Timothy Lee Richards, 43, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced by District Judge Theresa Springmann to 180 months imprisonment and 6 years of supervised release after being found guilty at trial of the felony offenses of possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, maintaining a place for the purpose of distributing crack cocaine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. According to the complaint filed in this case, law enforcement was looking for an individual with an arrest warrant at a particular residence where they encountered Richards. Officers observed a crack pipe near Richards, causing the officers to place Richards into custody. During this process a black pistol fell from his body. During a subsequent search of the residence officers found another gun, ammunition, many prescription narcotics, crack cocaine, marijuana and related drug paraphernalia. This case was the result of an investigation by the by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Fort Wayne Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Geller.
