South Bend "Cash Out Boyz" Gang Member Sentenced to 21 Years

Jarvis Ward, 20, of South Bend, Indiana, a defendant in the case US v Shaw et al., was sentenced by District Judge Robert L Miller, Jr to 252 months imprisonment and 6 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the felony offense of racketeering, aiding and abetting the carrying of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime/crime of violence, where the firearm was brandished. According to documents filed in this case, from 2010 to 2012, Ward was a member of the Cash Out Boyz gang in South Bend, Indiana. This gang was involved in a pattern of criminal activity including drug trafficking and violent crimes. In approximately April 2011, Jarvis Ward and another individual robbed and assaulted a drug dealer of approximately one pound of marijuana. After the drug robbery, Ward and the other party divided and sold the marijuana. In 2011 and 2012, Ward was involved in selling marijuana to other persons on at least 15 occasions. This case was the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald Schmid.
