Madison Man Sentenced To 15 Months For Distributing Heroin

MADISON, WIS. -- John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Aki Williams, 35, Madison, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to 15 months in federal prison for distributing heroin. This prison term is to be followed by three years of supervised release. Aki Williams pleaded guilty to this charge on October 9, 2013.

In July 2013, the Dane County Narcotics Task Force received information that Aki Williams was dealing heroin in the Madison area. One of Williams’ heroin customers agreed to assist law enforcement and introduced Williams to an undercover officer.

The undercover officer purchased heroin from Williams on three occasions in July and August 2013. Williams was arrested and a search warrant revealed a number of firearms at an auto repair shop in Madison, out of which Williams dealt heroin. The presence of the firearms resulted in an increase in the advisory federal sentencing guidelines.

The charges against Williams were the result of an investigation conducted by Dane County Narcotics Task Force, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Burke.
