Bus Stop Confrontation Leads To Lengthy Federal Sentence

Madison, Wis. - John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Christopher Glasper, 27, Madison, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Lynn S. Adelman to 70 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of ammunition. Glasper pled guilty to this charge on January 29, 2014.

On September 5, 2013, Glasper pulled a loaded firearm on two acquaintances at a bus stop on East Washington Avenue in Madison. Glasper twice "racked" the semiautomatic handgun, causing a round of ammunition to fall to the ground. Glasper fled, but later gave Madison Police officers permission to search his nearby apartment. Inside the apartment, the officers found a box of ammunition matching the round located at the bus stop.

The lengthy sentence was imposed because of Glasper’s long record of serious violence against numerous female victims and because he attempted to obstruct justice by having a friend, Nicholas Pierce, falsely claim to a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agent that the ammunition found in Glasper’s apartment belonged to Pierce. Pierce later confessed that Glasper convinced Pierce to lie. Pierce was indicted for lying to a federal officer, which is a felony, pleaded guilty on March 6, 2014, and will be sentenced on May 20, 2014.

The charge against Glasper was the result of an investigation conducted by Madison Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy M. O’Shea.
