Grand Jury Returns Indictments

MADISON, WIS. -- A federal grand jury in the Western District of Wisconsin, sitting in Madison, returned the following indictments today.  You are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

FOUR CHARGED WITH GUN CRIMES

In unrelated cases, four individuals are charged in separate indictments with being a felon in possession of a firearm.  If convicted, each faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.  Those charged are:

  1. Gregory A. Nimmo, 51, Wisconsin Dells, Wis., is charged with possessing a .40 caliber pistol and ammunition from January 2015 to February 25, 2015.  The charge against him is the result of an investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, Adams County Sheriff’s Office, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  The prosecution of this case will be handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter Jarosz.

  2. Paul Williams, 28, DeForest, Wis., is charged with possessing a 9 mm pistol on October 9, 2014.  The charge against him is the result of an investigation by the Madison Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  The prosecution of this case will be handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Anderson.

  3. Tommie Evans, 31, Madison, Wis., is charged with possessing a .40 caliber pistol on March 6, 2015.  The charge against him is the result of an investigation by the Madison Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  The prosecution of this case will be handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rita Rumbelow.

  4. Jason I. Kestler, 37, Brooklyn, Wis., is charged with possessing a 9mm pistol on December 4, 2014.  The charge against him is the result of an investigation by the Madison Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  The prosecution of this case will be handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter Jarosz.

MAN CHARGED WITH 5TH DUI

Douglas M. Hamilton, 51, Menomonie, Wis., is charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant, after having been previously convicted, suspended, and revoked in four separate instances of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant.  The indictment alleges that the offense took place on December 29, 2014, at Fort McCoy, Wis., which is an area which falls under federal jurisdiction.       

If convicted, Hamilton faces a mandatory minimum penalty of six months and a maximum penalty of six years in federal prison.  The charge against him is the result of an investigation by the Fort McCoy Police Department.  The prosecution of this case will be handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Burke.
