ATF Offering $25,000 Reward for Information on Denver Pawn Shop Robberies

DENVER, Colo. — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects believed to be involved in multiple pawn shop robberies in the Denver Metro Area.

The suspects are believed to have stolen 27 firearms, including handguns and rifles, from the pawn shops over the past several months.

Three Self-Admitted Denver Gang Members Arrested by ATF for Firearms Trafficking

DENVER – Three Denver self-admitted gang members were arrested late last night in an operation led by the ATF, U.S. Attorney John Walsh and ATF Denver Division Special Agent in Charge Ken Croke announced. Two of the three men appeared in U.S. District Court in Denver this afternoon, where they were advised of their rights, as well as the charges pending against them. The third will appear tomorrow afternoon. A detention hearing has been scheduled for Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. All three defendants will remain in custody, held without bond, prior to that hearing.

Cheyenne – U.S. Attorney Christopher A. Crofts announced today that Sheridan, Wyoming resident Joel S. Elliott has been sentenced to thirty-seven (37) years of imprisonment in federal court, consecutive to time being served on separate state charges. In addition to his term of imprisonment, Elliott was ordered to pay a $400.00 special assessment, restitution in the amount of $940,000.00, and will be placed on five years of supervised release upon release from federal custody.

DENVER – Yesterday Phinehas Lee McNeal, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Raymond P. Moore to serve 10 years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of ammunition, U.S. Attorney John Walsh and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Denver Division Special Agent in Charge Ken Croke announced. McNeal, who appeared at the hearing in custody, was remanded at its conclusion. On July 22, 2015, McNeal was found guilty following a jury trial of being a felon in possession of ammunition. He was acquitted of another charge.

Bozeman Man Convicted of Illegal Possession of an Un-Registered Machine Gun

BILLINGS – Following a three day federal trial, a Montana jury found William Krisstofer Wolf, 53, of Bozeman, guilty on two counts: Illegal Possession of a Machine Gun and Possession of a Firearm not Registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.  Judge Susan Watters presided over the trial.  Sentencing is set for March 3, 2016.

Man Who Placed Improvised Explosive Device at Colorado Springs Building Sentenced to Five Years in Federal Prison

DENVER – Thaddeus Cheyenne Murphy, age 44, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge William J. Martinez to serve 60 months (5 years) in federal prison for causing damage to a building by means of fire and explosion and for being a felon in possession of a firearm, U.S.

Prison for Man Involved in Multiple Shootings

A man accused of multiple felony crimes in three separate shooting incidents earlier this year has been sentenced to prison.

Anthony Dennis (dob: 02-07-90) pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree assault, possession of an illegal firearm and felony menacing. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison following a hearing earlier this week in Denver District Court.

The successful investigation and charging of Dennis was the result of work by the Crime Gun Intelligence Center. The case was prosecuted by Denver Deputy District Attorney Alma Staub.

Two Denver Area Gang Members Receive Prison Sentences for Firearm and Drugs Crimes

DENVER – Two individuals who are self-proclaimed gang members have been sentenced by federal judges to lengthy prison sentences for gun and drug crimes, U.S. Attorney John Walsh and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Special Agent in Charge Ken Croke announced.  The defendants, whose cases are unrelated, Jonathan Fricks, age 35, and Jesse Garis, age 32, both of Metro Denver, were prior felons caught with guns and drugs, as well as drug distribution paraphernalia.

Aurora Gang Member Sentenced to 20 Years in Federal Prison for Gun and Drug Crimes

DENVER – Michael Eugene Simpson, age 35, of Aurora, Colorado, was sentenced late last week to 240 months (20 years) in federal prison for gun and drug charges U.S. Attorney John Walsh and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Special Agent in Charge Ken Croke announced. The defendant was also ordered to spend 3 years on supervised release after serving his prison sentence.  He was remanded into custody at the end of the sentencing hearing.

Armed Suspects Make Off with Guns, Cash, Jewelry in Brash Daytime Pawn Shop Robbery

EDGEWATER, Colo. — At about 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, three armed and masked suspects stole four guns, cash and jewelry from the Fast Cash Pawn and Gold Center at 2551 Sheridan Blvd. in Edgewater, Colorado. None of the ten customers and store employees in the building at the time were hurt. 

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects involved in the robbery.

DEA-Led Multi-Agency Task Force Dismantles Large Marijuana Grow Operation in Cotopaxi and Westcliffe Colorado

DENVER – On Tuesday, September 1, 2015, DEA-led special agents, task force officers and other members of law enforcement, including the Sheriffs’ Offices of Custer and Fremont Counties, executed eight search and arrest warrants in and around the towns of Cotopaxi and Westcliffe, Colorado. The warrants were the result of a large multi-jurisdictional investigation into the illegal growth and distribution of marijuana.

$5000 Reward Offered in Hildale, Utah Explosives Theft

SALT LAKE CITY–The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are requesting the public’s assistance for information on the recent theft of high explosives from an explosives bunker located near Hildale, Utah.

On August 7, 2015, an ATF explosives licensee discovered explosives had been stolen from his lawfully permitted explosives storage bunker located in Hildale, Utah.  Unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the storage bunker and stole (70) pounds of high explosives. 

Billings Man Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison for Taking Guns from Sidney Store

BILLINGS – A federal judge sentenced William Jess Foust, 50, of Billings, Montana, to nine years in prison today for being a felon in possession of firearms. Federal District Court Judge Susan P. Watters also sentenced Foust to three years of supervised release. The sentence follows Foust’s March 26, 2015, guilty plea to being a felon in possession of firearms.
