ATF, Plano Police Department and Firearms Industry Announce Reward Offer in Plano, Texas Firearms Theft

PLANO – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Plano Police Department and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade association for the firearms industry – have announced a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft of firearms from Federal Firearm Licensee (FFL) Mister Guns, a retail firearms dealer located in Plano, Texas.

ATF is offering a reward in the amount of up to $5,000, which will be matched by the NSSF for a total reward of up to $10,000.

This reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF reward in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers. ATF works closely with members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms.

On Sept. 9, 2015, at approximately 4 a.m., unknown individuals drove a pickup truck through the front of Mister Guns, located at 2751 W 15th St., Plano. Approximately 93 firearms were stolen from the business during the course of the burglary. The pickup truck used has since been located and recovered a couple of blocks away from the business where it had been abandoned by the individuals involved. Investigation disclosed the pickup truck had been stolen earlier that morning from a nearby apartment complex, prior to the burglary having occurred.

The continuing investigation is being conducted jointly by both the ATF and the Plano Police Department.

Anyone with information about this crime should contact the North Texas Crime Stoppers (NTCS) at 1-877-373-8477 (1-877-373-TIPS). All calls will be kept confidential.
