McFarland Man Sentenced for Gun Crime
MADISON, WIS. -- John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Cory Brandt, 26, McFarland, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Lynn S. Adelman to 18 months in federal prison, followed by a three-year term of supervised release, for unlawfully possessing firearms as a convicted felon. Brandt pleaded guilty to this charge on December 17, 2013.
In May 2013, Brandt stole firearms from a relative and pawned them. Brandt said he did so to support his heroin addiction.
The charges against Brandt were the result of an investigation conducted by the McFarland Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rita M. Rumbelow.
