ATF Offers $5,000 Reward for Information about Lumberton Police Vehicle Arsons

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is announcing a reward up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the arson of three police department vehicles in Lumberton, N.C.

On Dec. 27, 2016, a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria belonging to the Lumberton Police Department (LPD) was found in flames on 40 Marion Road. This was the third vehicle being used by the LPD that had been destroyed by fire since March 2016. Earlier in the year, two unmarked vehicles were destroyed by fire in a LPD parking lot, both of which were owned by the city and used by the police department. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and ATF examined the vehicles for evidence and determined that the fire was incendiary.

ATF, along with our law enforcement partners, is committed to ensuring that our communities are safe and that those who commit violent crimes are held accountable. Anyone with information about this crime should contact ATF at 1-888-ATF-FIRE or Detective Blake Harrell with the LPD at 910-671-3845. Anonymous information may be sent to ATFTips@atf.gov, through www.atf.gov/contact/atf-tips, or submitted to ATF through the ReportIt® app, available through www.reportit.com and the Google Play and the Apple App Store. All calls and tips will be kept confidential.
