Prohibition Agent Carl Rehm was found lying beside his Government vehicle near Athens, IL.  His vehicle had been involved in a roll over accident and was heavily damaged.  Agent Rehm was rushed to the local hospital in Springfield, but died before regaining consciousness.  A follow-up investigation determined that Agent Rehm was attempting to obtain information about a local illicit distillery.  There was also some suspicion, albeit never proven, that he may have been run off the road by a bootlegger's vehicle.
