AG Strange Announces 30-Year Sentence for Attempted Murder of State Trooper (143 KB)

(MONTGOMERY) –Attorney General Luther Strange announced the sentencing of a woman in Perry County for attempted murder of a state trooper. Janice Green, also known as Janice Ford or Janice Billingsley, was found guilty by a jury in December of 2014. Today she was sentenced to serve 30 years in prison. Upon completion of this sentence, she is to serve 78 months for a related federal gun charge. She currently is incarcerated in the Bibb County Jail.

AG Order No. 3421-2014 (223 KB) Authorization To Seize Property Involved in Drug Offenses for Administrative Forfeiture - The Department of Justice is amending its regulations to extend the trial period during which the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) may exercise, for an additional one-year period following the effective date of this rule, the authority under the United States Code to seize and administratively forfeit property involved in controlled substance offenses.

The five systems of records were published in the Federal Register on January 24, 2003 (68 FR 3551). As described in this rule, the exemptions are necessary to protect law enforcement and investigatory information and functions of ATF.

Reg. 28968 (April 19, 2024) (to be codified at 27 C.F.R. pt. 478) against Plaintiffs Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Utah, Jeffrey Tormey (“Tormey”), the Gun Owners of America, Inc. (“GOA”), the Gun Owners Foundation (“GOF”), the Tennessee Firearms Association (“TFA”), and the Virginia Citizens Defense League (“VCDL”) pending the resolution of this lawsuit.
