K-9 Jerry is an ATF Explosives Detection Canine assigned to Special Agent Canine Handler Lorin Coppock of the Atlanta Field Division, Savannah Field Office. K-9 Jerry is trained to find explosives, firearms, ammunition and cartridge casings.
He is also an ATF Search Enhanced Evidence K-9 (S.E.E.K.) able to work off leash up to 150 yards away from his handler and detect more than 19,000 distinct odors. K-9 Jerry started his training with the Puppies Behind Bars foundation and now supports all federal, state and local law enforcement partners in south Georgia to ensure public safety and reduce violent crime. Recent Finds
K-9 Jerry has had several significant finds, which most recently included a shotgun used in two armed robberies, spent cartridge casings from an officer involved shooting, a firearm from an armed home invasion and a firearm stolen from a vehicle after a pursuit.
K-9 Jerry routinely assists with protective sweeps of large events locally as well as supporting national events, such as the Presidential Inauguration and the Super Bowl.
